Spoofed by the SLUMP guns

Posted by Mr.Keropok

Ever went through a day where seemingly everything went wrong? From the slightest and smallest to the big and important stuff... nothing seems to fall in place! Bad hair day, unlucky, 'suay' (hokkien term), haywire....etc These are just some terms that describe my yesterday.

  1. Organised a gathering, but things didn't turn out the way I had expected. I was frustrated and disappointed.
  2. Spent 1 hour working on an important document, and my laptop crashed on me. I wasn't in time to save the document and 1 hour of hardwork went down the drain. Redo.
  3. Went down to buy dinner. Tom Yam Noodle Soup. Auntie mistook my order and gave me the wrong kind of noodle. The kind which I don't like.
  4. Went to take the lift, only to realise it is spoilt. Had to walk up 4 storeys.
I just felt totally moody and lousy at the end of the day while on MRT back home. It was as if someone just spoofed and overwhelmed me with a slump gun. Not a good feeling. In fact, quite sucky.

Have you ever felt this way too? You probably could identify with how I feel.

Well, thankfully, I didn't go to bed with all these burdens on my mind. As I sat on my bed writing my journal and reflecting, I realised it was a matter of perspective how I would look at these "bad" or unlucky things that have happened to me. I began to realise that it was a also a learning and growing journey for me in terms of handling negative circumstances in life.

Life is never smooth sailing. There are times where things go really well. There are times where things just don't fall in place. That's where I should pick myself up, learn from the experience, rather than plop down and feel lousy about the whole matter.

Someone told me, "Tommorrow will be a better day!"...

But I choose to say, "Yesterday was a good day. Today is a great day. Tommorrow is gonna be a better day!"
