How did you end your Year 2007?

Posted by Mr.Keropok

Partying? Playing computer games in LAN shops? Watching movie marathons? Shopping till you drop? Or just slouching in front of the TV and catching up on all the outdated movies?

Well, those would probably be what I would do in any other year. But this year, I decided to do something different. Something crazy. Something radical. Something that people would deem as silly.

I decided to take a walk.... not just any normal walk, but in a 100KM relay walk around Singapore together with some of the youths whom I mentor.

FRIDAY 11:45PM @ S'PORE EXPO. Warming up in the midst of the cool gentle night breeze, we were all ready to kick start the 100KM relay walk. Morales sky high and high spirited, we flagged off and embarked on this amazing 100KM journey once the clock struck 12 midnight. This would also mark the beginning of a crazy or rather ardeuos upcoming 46 hours for me. With church meetings and countdown party rehersal interjected in between, this would also mean that I would not get to sleep till Sunday 10pm! That's 46 hours without any winks! Phew!

>>>>> Fast forward, and it's 6:30am Saturday morning. Our team has reached Lentor Avenue, with aim to reach Sembawang Avenue in 3 hours time to handover the relay baton to the next time that would anchor the next part of the walk. By this time, many of us were already feeling the strain in our knees and calves. But driven by adrenaline rush, we pushed further front in double quick time, hoping to cover as much ground as possible before most of us had to leave for a meeting.

>>>>>> Fast forward again. I managed to rejoin the team again at 11:00pm after the entire day of engagement. By this time, I was purely running on adrenaline and caffeine highs to stay awake. This was the final segments of the walk and there's no way I'm going to drop out. From Pasir Panjang Road, we ventured through to Redhill, through the entire Orchard Road stretch, all the way past Esplanade, crossing Nicoll Highway to reach Indoor Stadium. Henceforth was the most tiring and gruelling part of the walk. From Sunday 3:00am till 7:00am, we had to battle hard against the Zzz-monster to stay awake as we dragged ourselves from Indoor Stadium to East Coast Park MacDonalds. By the time we hit ECP Macs, we were all flat out and decided to catch an hour's wink there and then!

Sunday 9:15am @ ECP Lagoon... Everyone gathered for the grand finale victory march towards EXPO.

HURRAY!!! After two hours, we completed the walk together, bringing an victorious closure to our 100KM relay walk campaign!

Looking back... I could have had more fun partying at any year end events or just couch at home relaxing away. But honestly, nothing beats doing something that challenges my own limits and also inspire lives along the way.

Pace Setter... Trend Maker.... Boundary Breakers... History Makers!

That's my latest tagline!

I am better than Nadal in ONE thing.....

Posted by Mr.Keropok

Rafael Nadal, world ranking number 2 in tennis. Well, I am also not far behind... probably just 1,465,876 rankings distance away from him. In fact, I only picked up tennis two weeks ago! I may not have those big bulging muscles like Mr Nadal, nor can I play those backhands and forehand smashes skillfully like him (my shots always fly sky high!). Probably the thing that I have more than Nadal is the amount of body fat content.. haha.. You should check out Nadal playing on ESPN channels.. He is a lean mean fighting machine man!

Why I want to learn tennis? Well, like I mentioned previously, this is a breakout year for me and I want to try new things. So having seen all the power tennis plays on ESPN channels, I decided that it was time for me to be on the court and experience the adreneline myself! My gosh it was fun! Within two weeks and I can now slice the ball like a professional player! Give me another two weeks, I believe I will be ready to try out some friendly competition! :P

Oh.. forgot to mention... If nothing goes wrong, I will be learning SALSA DANCE this Saturday! Woohoo!! Something new again!

Dare to be Paiseh...

Dare to Step Out...

Dare to Have Fun! Read more on this article...

Dare to Hip-Hop and break some old bones??

Posted by Mr.Keropok

Hip-Hop Dance and Salsa Dance!

These are things which I am contemplating to join and learn! Cool right?!?! Through some youth groups, I came to find out that they are organising a session where people can learn how to do hip-hop and salsa dance. Well, since there isn't any age limit mentioned, I am thinking I may possibly give a shot at trying it!

Why bother to try? Well, basically this is a BREAKOUT YEAR for me where I am challenging myself to try new things. Last year was a CONQUEST YEAR for me where I have conquered the marathons and all those physical activities. This year, it is time to try something new!

Who ever said that dancing was for girls? Well, I may just give it a shot to break some paradigms... Guys can dance too!

Anyone GAME for a try?!?!?!??! Read more on this article...

Take on the challenge!

Posted by Mr.Keropok

In 2006, I have cycled like never cycled before - crusing through Eastern Singapore on night cycling trails and rocky Pulau Ubin adventure paths. I made an audacious attempt with my gungho-kakis to complete the 100KM walk around Singapore - We only lasted about 72KM. I climbed the 72 storeys, 1336 steps of Swissotel Vertical Marathon. Last but not least, I ran my lungs out in my second attempt at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon. Enough said.. those were the good old glory days. Time to move on.

In 2007 this year, the personal challenge I set for myself is to participate in this OSIM triathlon and complete it! I am not going for the Olympic race catagory yet, just the half-Olympic one, also known as the Sprint catagory.

750M of swimming in open sea, 20KM of cycling and a 5KM run along East Coast Park.

Watch out for me.... Life is a daring adventure or nothing! Read more on this article...

Ultimate Challenge for 2007!

Posted by Mr.Keropok

Many have been asking me if I would still be taking on the Standard Chartered 42KM Marathon this year. Well, I am not really certain yet.. Having been there and done that, I feel that it is time to launch myself to something MORE challenging!

This year, I have decided to take part in the OSIM Triathlon! ... The sprint version first before I take on the full triathlon in 2008. And this sprint version consist of 1. Swimming 750m in OPEN SEA; 2. Cycling 20KM; 3. Running 5KM... Simple as each stage may look, but when combined together, it's gonna be gruelling man!

I choose to take on this challenge because I have NEVER swan more than 100m in open sea before, and my cycling skills are really lousy!

Life is a daring adventure or nothing man.. Take it on, and live life without regret! Read more on this article...
