Change the Environment or Change Myself?

Posted by Mr.Keropok

An interesting conversation with a youth at 8:00AM yesterday morning:

Youth: Argh!!! I overslept....

EeJay: Mmm.. Better rush. Must be mindful next time not to oversleep again.

Youth: Ok ok.. Think will buy a big big alarm clock later.. Need reinforcement liao..

EeJay: Mmm.. think gotta be more disciplined. Not so much to do with alarm clock.

I learnt a very important lesson from this simple conversation. That one should always take time to reflect on the matter/problem first before jumping to any solutions. Sometimes the problem does not lie with the environment or circumstances, but rather our ownselves! In this particular case, it could possibly be learning to sleep earlier the night before (or begin a few days before hand for transition sake). Rather than just jump straight into changing to a better alarm clock. We might just get used to the better alarm clock that soon it may take a bomb blast to wake us up! =P

Now, this is what I call learning valuable life lessons from every available moment!

Disclaimer: This post is not targetted at the youth. But to share an important character building lesson. =)
