SAFRA Sheares Bridge 10KM Unity Challenge Run

Posted by Mr.Keropok

We came... We ran.. and We Conquered!!!! It was a great run and the rain definitely did not dampen the spirit of the whole event! Most of the youths whom signed up for this run had never ran such a long distance before... So when it came to the finishing line, each one of them had made it in the record books... Everyone of them are HISTORYMAKERS!!!!

Reflection:

  • I paired up my boys, loosely tying their hands together with a red cloth and they ran in this pairing for the whole 10km. BIBLICAL LESSON: Starting together and finishing together. Learning to balance between accomodating each others' pace and when to be pushing the limits to keep going even when tired. In the Christian faith journey, it is not all just about smooth sailings and fun moments, but there are times where we need to push the limits, press in, go in faith despite difficult situations and uncertainties.

  • Living out the Christian faith! BIBLICAL LESSON: Believe most of us know all the head knowledge about perseverance and finishing strong. Now is the application time. Only when we live out perseverance then our "stamina" will grow stronger. Do not be just Hearers of the Word but Do-ers of the Word! And to follow your leader as he sets the example.

  • One rule which I set for all my youths who ran together with me.. No dropping out of the race / stop and take a break by the side. BIBLICAL LESSON: Being steadfast in the Christian faith and not giving up! When we stop running, it will be very hard to kick start again! Many christian fall out of race because they were not steadfast and wanted to take "breaks" along the way.

  • FAITH CHALLENGE!! Honestly, all the youths who participated are not seasoned joggers. Maximum distance they have ran is 4km. This run has been challenging for them. Faith grows when we keep applying and stretching it in the Lord! Must see with eyes of faith to complete the 10km!

  • Developing a FIGHTING SPIRIT! In our attitude towards God, church, cell meetings... have we lost the fighting spirit? Do we "fight" our way to come church/cell meetings or do we just accept the rough situations of life and bow down to it. Where is the tenacious attitude that never gives up? When we choose God in our lives, don't just be a substandard Christian, but be one that goes all out for God!
