"... And if I perish, I perish." These were amazing words that I read from an ancient true story, where a queen went to the king and plead for the people of her nation. And these were the last words for her people before she left them.
When I read this, I was like, "Oh my gosh! She's my HERO!!!". That willingness to sacrifice is so admirable and inspirational! I too wish I had that kind of courage to say it out now.
Nowadays we say things like "I only have one life, just live it out!" or "Life is short, better do whatever we like!" or even "It's now or never! Just do it!".
Pause for a moment and rationally think before we blurt out rashly those sentences again. This heroic queen was willing to perish because she had a purpose - to save her people. In our young, dangerous and gungho attitudes of today, do we know what's our purpose when we say these things?
My mentor told me before, "Everyone needs something to die for. Youths die for computer games, sports while adults die for money, status and recognition. Everyone needs something to die for, but before that, better know why first!"
I will put my life or anything at stake for my parents BECAUSE I love them. Will I do the same for computer games just for that moment of fun? Will I put my future at stake just because people call me a coward for not trying smoking and drugs? You must be CRAZY!
Make your life count for a good purpose, don't waste it!
