Many of you know that I have studying seriously hard in NUS for the past 6 years - from Honors Degree to Masters Degree - in the midst switching from Mechanical Engineering in my Honors Degree to Bioengineering in my Masters research work. It wasn't the easiest of 2 years for me because I have NEVER had any background in Biology-related stuff before. Even in Chemistry, I did badly during my O-levels that I vowed never to touch that subject again.
However, in the pursuit of my Masters degree, my research work required me to study on Biology and Chemistry. And trust me, it wasn't just simple bits about DNA and molecules, but a whole big chuck of it. I still remembered grinning my teeth through those modules - It was like cramping the entire Secondary and JC syllabus all within 3 months and having to sit for a closed book exam after that! I gave it my very best, and in the end I got a C for that module. I was satisfied, not too bad for a first timer, and also relieved that it was over!
Well, all the hard work paid off! Check out what I saw on ScienceDirect - An E-Journal website which has access to numerous research journals.
Tada! The publication of my research work! I toiled through 2 years of research work to churn out this research paper together with a wonderful team of my supervisors and professors. Now this is the legacy I leave behind in NUS.. which I can proudly show my children in future! Wiiiii!
NEVER underestimate whatever hard work and effort that you are sowing into today. You may not see immediate results, but don't lose heart, it's just round the corner. We reap what we sow! :)
